At King’s Academy Lord Wilson, the safety and well-being of our students is our paramount concern. We understand that young men aged 11-16 navigating social, emotional, and mental health challenges require a nurturing, reliable and secure environment. This statement outlines our unwavering commitment to safeguarding each student entrusted to our care.
A Culture of Care and Support
We cultivate a culture of openness and trust, where boys feel comfortable expressing their needs and concerns. Our dedicated staff, including teachers, safeguarding leaders and partnerships with qualified social workers and counsellors, are trained to identify potential issues and provide appropriate support. We also strive to create a strong sense of community, where boys feel valued and respected by peers and adults alike.
Robust Safeguarding Procedures
- We have robust safeguarding procedures in place, aligned with national guidelines. These procedures include:
- A designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy, responsible for overseeing all safeguarding matters within the school.
- Regular training for all staff on safeguarding best practices, including identifying abuse and neglect, and responding appropriately.
- Clear reporting protocols for any concerns related to a student’s safety or well-being.
- Open communication with parents and guardians, keeping them informed and involved in safeguarding measures.
Working in Partnership
We recognise the importance of collaboration to ensure comprehensive support for our students. We maintain strong relationships with external agencies, such as social services, mental health professionals, and the police. This allows us to access specialist support when needed and ensure a coordinated approach to safeguarding.
Confidentiality and Respect
We understand the importance of confidentiality while managing safeguarding concerns. We will only share information with others on a need-to-know basis and with the consent of the student unless there is a safeguarding risk. All discussions are held with the utmost respect and sensitivity.
Empowering Our Students
We empower our students with the knowledge and skills to recognise and report abuse or neglect. We provide age-appropriate personal, social, and health education (PSHE) sessions, fostering open communication and healthy relationships. We also encourage students to seek help from a trusted adult within the school if they have any concerns.
Your Voice Matters
We are committed to continuous improvement in our safeguarding practices. We encourage parents, guardians, and students to raise any questions or concerns they may have. We value your feedback in creating a safe and supportive environment for all our boys.
