At King’s Academy Lord Wilson, we are committed to providing a well-rounded education that supports your child’s individual needs and prepares them for a successful future. Our focus on a broad and balanced curriculum, combined with our strong personal development program, ensures that your child is equipped with the essential skills for post-16 studies and beyond.
To support your child in meeting their targets outlined in their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), we have designed a comprehensive curriculum that includes:

Students will refine their writing style and gain an understanding of different audiences. Additionally, they will broaden their literary horizons through extensive reading.
- Mathematics (GCSE):. Learning will focus on real-world applications of mathematical concepts and their interconnections. Throughout the year, they will take regular assessments and complete PPEs to prepare for the final, 100% exam-based qualification consisting of three papers (one non-calculator and two calculator-aided).
- Science (Synergy): This dynamic curriculum equips students with a deeper understanding of scientific advancements shaping our world. - Esport (BTEC Award): Esports is an exciting, team-based activity that engages a wider demographic of young people than traditional team activities such as sport, music, art or drama – including, but not limited to, those who are not ‘into’ these activities. When done in moderation as part of a balanced lifestyle, esports is also a beneficial alternative to watching passive media, like TV, or using social media. The BTEC qualification has explicit links to computing education, STEAM subjects and the development of business and enterprise skills, digital skills, cyber skills and digital literacy. It also promotes character development in the same way that traditional team-based activities do.
- Fitness (Level 2 Certification): Throughout this GCSE-equivalent course, pupils will study a range of core modules including; Principles of anatomy & physiology (including basic exercise science), professionalism and customer care for fitness instructors, emphasising the importance of professionalism in the fitness industry.
- Personal Development:
- Life Skills: Teaches essential life skills, such as budgeting, time management, cooking and problem-solving.
- PHSE: Promotes understanding of personal and social issues, including health, relationships, and citizenship.
- Wellbeing: Focuses on mental health, emotional well-being, and resilience.
