Why is Uniform Important at King’s Academy Lord Wilson?
We believe a consistent and focused learning environment is vital for all our students. Following the school uniform policy plays a significant role in achieving this. Just like the importance of adhering to the passport control system, wearing the correct uniform creates a sense of belonging and reduces distractions.
To ensure everyone can participate fully in the school day, we have developed a new system to address situations where students arrive without proper uniforms. To address the occasional need for spare uniforms, we’ve implemented a system similar to what you might find at a bowling alley. We have a dedicated stock of clean, freshly laundered spare uniforms in various sizes.
If your child arrives out of uniform, they will be issued the appropriate spare set for the day. These uniforms, along with any spare shoes that may be required, undergo a rigorous cleaning and sanitisation process each week to ensure hygiene concerns are completely addressed. This ensures your child can participate comfortably in the school day without any disruption.
On a rare occasion where we do not have appropriate spare uniform, any students arriving out of uniform will receive a dated and time-limited “uniform pass” at passport control. This triggers a phone call from your child’s tutor, who will discuss the situation and potential solutions with you.
Financial Hardship
We understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise. If your family is experiencing financial hardship that impacts your ability to provide the correct uniform, please do not hesitate to speak with your child’s tutor in confidence. We are here to support you and can explore potential solutions.
Tracksuit Bottoms or Trousers
For the bottom half of the uniform, plain black tracksuit bottoms or trousers are perfectly acceptable. This provides a comfortable and practical option for students. However, to maintain a smart and consistent appearance, coloured tracksuit bottoms, jeans, or any other style of trousers are not permitted. Small logos, less than 5 cm in diameter, are acceptable on the bottoms, but large or prominent logos, such as the Adidas “three-stripe” design or similar branding, are not allowed. This ensures a clean and streamlined look for the entire student body.
Thank You
We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring your child arrives in proper uniform each day. This will create a positive learning environment for all students.
