A Structured and Engaging Day: Our School Timetable

At Lord Wilson School, we believe in fostering a stimulating and well-structured learning environment. Here’s a glimpse into our typical school day, designed to nurture your child’s academic growth and social development.

Morning Arrival (8:45 AM):

The school day begins at 8:45 AM. To ease the transition, students participate in “Passport Control”, a friendly check-in process with a member of staff where they hand over their mobile phones and any other distractions before grabbing a nourishing morning meal at our breakfast club (optional).

Establishing a Positive Mindset (9:00 AM – 9:30 AM):

Following breakfast, each student meets with their dedicated tutor during “Tutor Time.” This allows for a smooth transition into the day’s activities. Here, tutors and students set expectations, discuss learning goals, and create a positive learning atmosphere.

Core Subjects and Active Breaks (9:30 AM – 10:50 AM):

Periods 1 and 2 typically focus on core subjects like mathematics and English, providing your child with a strong foundation in these crucial areas. During this time, students engage with well planned lessons tailored to their learning styles.

Following these lessons students receive a short break, offering a chance for social interaction under the supervision of trained adults. These breaks are designed to refine social communication skills and build positive relationships in a reduced stress setting.

Exploration and Enrichment (11:05 AM – 12:25 PM):

Periods 3 and 4 broaden your child’s horizons by exposing them to a stimulating mix of subjects beyond the core curriculum. This could include exciting and practical activities in Physical Education or learning valuable life skills in Food Technology.

Fueling the Mind and Body (12:25 PM – 12:50 PM):

Lunchtime is next! We provide a nutritious and well-balanced meal to fuel your child for the rest of the day. This is followed by unstructured social time in dedicated areas like our clubs, where students can pursue interests like chess, manga, or art. These clubs further enrich their learning experience and provide a platform for building friendships with support from their known adults.

Further Exploration and Reflection (12:50 PM – 2:45 PM):

Periods 5 and 6 continue to enrich your child’s learning journey with a variety of engaging subjects. This time may be dedicated to science, geography, or an in-depth exploration of challenging topics in PHSRE.

Before the day concludes, a second “Tutor Time” session allows students to reflect on their successes and achievements. Tutors and students work together to plan for continued learning and improvement the following day.

The End of a Productive Day (2:45 PM on weekdays, 1:45 PM on Fridays):

The school day officially ends at 2:45 PM (1:45 PM on Fridays), allowing your child ample time for after-school activities or relaxation.

Enhancing Your Child’s Journey:

This is just a snapshot of our daily routine. We believe in a flexible and responsive approach, constantly striving to optimise our timetable to nurture your child’s unique talents and learning pace. If you have any questions about our schedule or specific details, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s tutor in the first instance.

We look forward to welcoming your child and setting them on a path of success!
